Johanna Fulda
Senior Software Developer
After working as a Software Developer and Manager at a Renewable Energies startup for 5 years, Johanna joined OPEN as a Frontend focussed Software Developer, where she can also bring her data visualization expertise to the table.
Johanna got her Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Munich, spent some of her student days at Aarhus University in Denmark, and at UBC in Vancouver, where together with UBC’s InfoViz group she wrote her thesis, combining Natural Language Processing and data visualization. Pre-Master she worked at a national newspaper in Germany, and further pursued that journalism path by doing research together with UBC’s School of Journalism. Now she enjoys keeping an eye on the state of data journalism but is mostly keen to work in the Climate Sector, writing Software and visualizing data.
After work, Johanna organizes Vancouver’s Data Viz Meetup group, picks apples with the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project and enjoys exploring the mountains and the sea.

OPEN Technologies grew out of the OPEN Green Building Society, a non-profit organization that has been developing open source software tools for the green building space since 2013. Today, OPEN Technologies and OPEN Green Building Society are affiliated organizations with a shared goal: to use data to shape a regenerative future for our cities.
