Daniel Eden
GRID Product Manager
Daniel Eden, P.Eng, LEED AP O+M, has been striving to improve our new and existing building stock for close to 10 years. With a technical background in engineering consulting and a Master of Engineering Leadership in High Performance Buildings from UBC, he is equipped to deliver technical and business solutions to a broad range of clients.
At OPEN, Daniel is the product manager of GRID – OPEN’s flagship software for building energy benchmarking program management. In this role, he crafts the vision and roadmap of GRID by leveraging his deep knowledge of benchmarking, understanding the market direction, and by listening carefully to client needs.
Daniel’s business analysis toolbox includes completing situational analysis, validating product-market fit, completing user testing, and leading UX/UI design.
His engineering consulting experience spans building condition assessments, energy and water audits, energy management, green building certifications (including LEED, ARC, BOMA Best, ENERGY STAR), and project management for over $200,000 in yearly fees. In terms of research, he has extensive knowledge and has lectured on green building policy and the BC Energy Step Code implementation.
Dan is excited to work on exploring and defining new software solutions for the high performance building space. On weekends, you can find him either somewhere in the mountains (skiing/hiking), somewhere in the ocean (surfing/sailing), or at home noodling on the guitar or ukulele.

OPEN Technologies grew out of the OPEN Green Building Society, a non-profit organization that has been developing open source software tools for the green building space since 2013. Today, OPEN Technologies and OPEN Green Building Society are affiliated organizations with a shared goal: to use data to shape a regenerative future for our cities.
