Building Benchmark BC – Year 6 Report Is Here

BC municipalities have stopped waiting on the Province for benchmarking rules. Communities from the Capital Regional District to Richmond are starting to require building energy reporting, and our Year 6 Annual Report looks at what that change means for building owners and local governments.

With five years of clean data from hundreds of buildings, the report can now show longer-term performance trends. The short version: energy consumption rose slightly, while greenhouse gas emissions fell modestly thanks to fuel mix and grid improvements.

The report also includes a sector-by-sector breakdown and a case study of the Greater Victoria 2030 District, where some buildings are hitting their climate targets years ahead of schedule.
